Ruth qualified as a solicitor in 2005 and since that time has specialised in criminal defence.

As a Duty Solicitor Ruth regularly attends the Police Stations, Magistrates Courts and Youth Courts to deal with a variety of cases and representing clients from all walks of life, including some of the most vulnerable members of society.

Samira joined Sansbury Douglas in 2019 as part of the Magistrates Court Team having successfully completed her academic training with a first class Law degree from the University of the West of England, successfully completing the Police Station Accreditation scheme and latterly the successful completion of the Legal Practice Couse (LPC) at the University of the West of England.

Samira completed her Training Contract in Bristol where she undertook seats in; Criminal Law, Immigration and Asylum Law. She also undertook a large amount of taxi licensing work and throughout her Training Contract she represented clients as the advocate at licensing committee hearings and litigated taxi appeals.  She also regularly attended hearings with Solicitors and Barristers and prepared cases for upcoming Court hearings and Trials which involved reviewing disclosure and meeting with clients to go through the case and take detailed instructions.

During and outside of office hours, her work as a Police Station Representative sees Samira defending clients at the Police Station in cases ranging from minor to serious offences.

Samira is fluent in Dutch, German and Somali.

Tim joined Sansbury Douglas in 2018 and shortly thereafter qualified as a Police Station Representative.

Having a keen interest in police station work Tim worked as an Appropriate Adult in 2012.  He then went on to study Law at the University of Gloucestershire and attained a 2:1 law degree in 2015.

Having had previous experience working closely with vulnerable adults, Tim has the skills and the approachable nature to communicate with clients in a sensitive manner and ensure they are being fully listened to and supported throughout their case.

In his work as a Crown Court caseworker Tim deals with a wide range of serious offences.   He meets clients early on in a case and obtains statements, instructs barristers, attends court and reviews evidence.
